Changes in Water Source Cause Shifts in Invertebrate Biomass, Composition, and Regrowth in a Non-Chlorinated Drinking Water Distribution System

چکیده
Invertebrates such as Asellus aquaticus, halacarid mites, copepods and cladocerans are common in drinking water distribution systems. The Zeeuws-Vlaanderen system (DWDS) of Evides company is divided into western eastern sections, initially supplied with derived from a eutrophic reservoir (water) groundwater, respectively. was characterised less biologically stable than the groundwater. Due to groundwater level protection measures, since 2015 supply section has been gradually replaced treatment plant, which uses source water. This change caused increased regrowth conditions, observed by regulated microbial indicators (HPC22 Aeromonas), invertebrate biomass, dominant occurrence confirming observations other DWDSs. results same biological water, however, showed that regrowth, biomass A. aquaticus not only related stability but also influence DWDS-specific conditions. DWDS configuration well higher demands summer (western section) and/or sediment Fe accumulation (eastern suggested factors affecting therefore subjects for further research.

Biological Instability in a Chlorinated Drinking Water Distribution Network
The purpose of a drinking water distribution system is to deliver drinking water to the consumer, preferably with the same quality as when it left the treatment plant. In this context, the maintenance of good microbiological quality is often referred to as biological stability, and the addition of sufficient chlorine residuals is regarded as one way to achieve this. The full-scale drinking wate...
متن کاملDynamics of Biofilm Regrowth in Drinking Water Distribution Systems
UNLABELLED The majority of biomass within water distribution systems is in the form of attached biofilm. This is known to be central to drinking water quality degradation following treatment, yet little understanding of the dynamics of these highly heterogeneous communities exists. This paper presents original information on such dynamics, with findings demonstrating patterns of material accumu...
متن کاملMeasurement of Fluoride Concentration in Semnan Drinking Water Distribution
Background: The existence of fluoride ion in potable water has distinctive effects on human health. Fluoride is attracted by positively charged calcium in teeth and bones due to its strong electro-negativity which results in dental, skeletal, and non-skeletal forms of xuorosis and associated health complaints in children as well as adults. Methods: Water samples from groundwater used for dri...
متن کاملsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Investigation of Fungi in Drinking Water Resources as a Source of Contamination Tap Water in Sari, Iran
Background and purpose: One of the most prominent concerns for the water consumers is pathogenic microorganism contamination. Wells and underground water resources are the main resources of drinking water in Sari city, Iran. The main objectives of the research project were to explore the distribution and frequency of mycoflora in wells and underground water resources of the city and their conta...
